VITA

Livia Hanson is known for her experimental and transdisciplinary art, expressed in various media such as performance, installation, painting, and video. A central theme in her work is the question of identity and gender, particularly in relation to queer identities and feminist perspectives. She often critically engages with prevailing notions of gender roles and beauty ideals, creating space for alternative narratives and perspectives. Her artworks are often very sensual and take the viewer on an journey that can be both challenging and uplifting.

In 2023, she has been nominated for the "A New Gaze 4 - Vontobel Contemporary Photography Prize."

She began to study art at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts in Kiel, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Design with a focus on Photography. She then deepened her knowledge at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, studying Photography under the guidance of Prof. Tina Bara and Prof. Joachim Brohm, eventually graduating with a diploma in 2021. To broaden her artistic and personal horizons internationally, she also studied for a year as a scholarship recipient of the DFJW (German-French Youth Office) at the École nationale supérieure de la photographie - ENSP Arles and at the Villa Arson in Nice, France.

Livia Hanson lives and works as a freelance artist in Leipzig, Germany.
Since 2022, she is the artistic assistant to Jörg Gläscher.
